October 21 is the day when the Uzbek language was given the status of the State language

The cultural core and the main source of communication between the peoples and nations of the world is their national language. Therefore, the preservation and transmission of each language to the younger generation determines the development of the nation and its future. The language alone unites, educates, teaches, preserves the customs, traditions and cultures of many peoples, ensuring their transmission from generation to generation.

On October 21, 1989, the Law “On the State Language” was adopted, according to which the Uzbek language was given the status of the state language, which was a decisive step towards independence. Article 1 of this Law and Article 4 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan states that “The state language of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the Uzbek language” and that the Republic of Uzbekistan provides conditions for all citizens to study the state language and respect for the languages of nations and nationalities living on its territory, conditions are created for the development of these languages.

It is gratifying that on April 10, 2020, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. ZRU-615 “On establishing the day of the holiday of the Uzbek language” was adopted. This law establishes that annually on October 21 the Day of the Uzbek language holiday will be celebrated. From now on, every year, October 21 throughout the country will be celebrated as a big holiday. By celebrating it, we will pay tribute to all the languages and cultures that exist in the world. Since the language of any nationality absorbs the centuries-old experience of the people. They were created over a thousand years by many generations of our ancestors, and every word in it is like a grain of pure gold!

Let our mother tongue, which is a symbol of our national value and statehood, always resound on the platforms of the world! May it never lose its purity and charm! May it be eternally stable on the path of national progress!

Dear citizens, the staff of the State and Law Academy of Sciences congratulates you on the holiday of the language!
