An international conference was held on the topic of “International Legal Cooperation between Lawyers of Uzbekistan and Russia.”
On September 28, 2026, at 14:30, an international conference titled "International Legal Cooperation between Lawyers of Uzbekistan and Russia" took place at the MGIMO Tashkent branch.
The event was organized by the Coordination Council for the Development of Legal Sciences in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights, and the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Prominent legal scholars from both countries, experts in international law, and representatives of the academic community participated in the conference.
The conference took on special significance against the backdrop of the consistent development of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance relations between Uzbekistan and Russia. High-level dialogue in 2026 also focused on further deepening bilateral cooperation, expanding practical ties, and consistently implementing agreements reached.
The primary goal of the conference was to strengthen professional and scientific ties between lawyers from Uzbekistan and Russia, discuss pressing issues of international and national law, exchange experience regarding legal regulation and law enforcement practices, and develop joint approaches to addressing legal matters of mutual interest.
Speakers at the conference included Akmal Saidov, Academician and Director of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights; Nikita Yuryevich Malchakov, Dean of the International Law Faculty at MGIMO (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia); and Bakhtiyar Raisovich Tuzmukhamedov, Professor of International Law and Vice-President of the Russian Association of International Law.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Murodjon Turgunov, Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Law, and Professor. Following the conference, an open discussion took place during which participants exchanged views, addressed pertinent issues, and consolidated the proposals put forward.
It is expected that this scientific and expert dialogue will help further strengthen ties between the legal communities of the two countries, expand professional and academic interaction, and foster new avenues of legal cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia.
